A hidden gem tucked away off Icicle Road and from the busy traffic lies the cozy Sleeping Lady Resort. As we drove in through the fog, the resorts sign was revealed like a warm welcome as we approached. This is the resort we chose to stay at for our weekend getaway to Leavenworth, WA. The resort is conveniently located about 3.5 miles from the village.
Leavenworth is a quaint Bavarian town about 2.5 hours east of Seattle. An interesting historical tidbit, the town was originally settled by Germans, however during the 1950’s they decided branding the town German wasn’t ideal with the current climate, and decided to settle with Bavarian.
What the town is most famous for are the Christmas lights which they decorate on every building and tree in the town center. We went on a Saturday evening which was busy and wall to wall with people. A good idea would be to find a restaurant or bar with a view and get there early to snag a view of the lighting without having to fight through the crowds. Another tip is to go during the weekdays and it will be less crowded and the lights will still be on.
Being a mom is a hard job, so when I found out the Fairmont Olympic in Seattle offered afternoon tea, I just had to go. I invited my good friend Julie to join me on a Mom’s day out for some champagne, tea, sandwiches and pastries. Whether you are visiting the Seattle area or local to the area, this is a must do!
The Fairmont Olympic is conveniently located in downtown Seattle, so it’s within walking distance to popular attractions such as Pike Place Market, the Seattle Public Library, South Lake Union and much more.
